The release of Dune 2000 could not be called an important milestone in the development of the strategic genre. Another important factor for the rise of Dune's popularity was the miniseries filmed for the Sci-Fi channel, which, as its name implies, specialized in science fiction. Despite promises to create a canonical version of Frank Herbert's Dune, for marketing reasons, it still remained the director-producer's vision of the book, although certainly more accurate and close to the original than Lynch's attempt in 1984. Having a significantly limited budget for a project of this magnitude, the studios had to save on everything by inviting British actors of the second and third order to the first roles, and the rest were filled with generally unknown people, although Western viewers were already familiar with Czech actors and, especially, actresses of a different genre. And here the creators of the series did not lose - the non-star "cast" played unexpectedly strongly and the television version by all estimates bypassed the cinematic, including on IMDB.
