Review of Emperor: Battle for Dune

The release of Dune 2000 could not be called an important milestone in the development of the strategic genre. The remake pleased some fans of the franchise, but the game pleased the fans of "Command and Conquer" much more, who made sure that their favorite series was not in danger. As for the fans of Warcraft, they were not even surprised - another strategy. To face the truth, technologically, the remake was no different from the games of the C & C series, and due to the fact that the gameplay of one series came out of the gameplay of another - to look for coincidences and figure out who borrowed what from whom - would be a thankless task.

Surprisingly, the developers and Electronic Arts, who recently acquired them, did not lose heart after the remake received not very good ratings (mostly slightly above average), and Dune, as you already understood from the very fact of writing this review, got another chance, but not as a remake, but as a full-fledged sequel.

EA was also well aware that there would be no better time for such a specific brand as Dune than the scrapping of centuries / millennia. Fans of the book have just begun to receive a prequel of the epic authorship of Frank Herbert's son, Brian, in collaboration with the famous Kevin J. Anderson, who is probably the best author of our time for writing books in alien universes and franchises. Based partly on Frank Herbert's notes, which were not included in the canon of the book at that time, "House Atreides", "House Harkonnen" and "House Corrin" in an interesting manner provided details to many things in the book series. Of course, the philosophical, unhurried and academic manner inherent in the original books has changed to a more modern and dynamic style. The new authors were well aware that it would not be possible to repeat the original "Dune", therefore they bribed readers with a twisted plot and giving shape to those things that had previously remained on the reader's imagination. Since the author's death in 1986, these books have become hits and were in the bottom ten bestsellers at the time of release. The army of readers was replenished by quite a lot of people who became interested in it thanks to the games, and as you already understood, the new prequels were primarily focused on the younger generation, spoiled by action stories.

Another important factor for the rise of Dune's popularity was the miniseries filmed for the Sci-Fi channel, which, as its name implies, specialized in science fiction. Despite promises to create a canonical version of Frank Herbert's Dune, for marketing reasons, it still remained the director-producer's vision of the book, although certainly more accurate and close to the original than Lynch's attempt in 1984. Having a significantly limited budget for a project of this magnitude, the studios had to save on everything by inviting British actors of the second and third order to the first roles, and the rest were filled with generally unknown people, although Western viewers were already familiar with Czech actors and, especially, actresses of a different genre. And here the creators of the series did not lose - the non-star "cast" played unexpectedly strongly and the television version by all estimates bypassed the cinematic, including on IMDB.

And in the summer of 2001, three years after the release of the remake, a new strategy in the Dune universe saw the light. Comment obtenir un bonus sur 1xBet?
